The Famous Cote d’Azur: Lights, Camera Cote d’Azur

The stunning landscape of the South of France has been a popular backdrop for many iconic movies, due to its unique natural formation where the snow-capped Alpine mountains overlook the dazzling sun, sand and sea of the French Riviera creating its breath taking scenery.

Sailing in the South of France

The Cote d’Azur is known for its iconic architecture, breathe taking views and glitz glamour although this Golden Coast is just as attractive off shore as it is on shore. Many of our properties offer mooring docks due to the demand of sailing facilities across the Riviera, with the perfect summer breeze travelling from the south east sailing conditions in the South of France are impeccable. The French Riviera hosts many Regatta Sailing events each year from yacht racing to festivals promoting the maritime developments.


Sailing along this stunning coast one can enjoy the scenic highlights presented by the French Riviera whilst relaxing and escaping the crowds. There are several sailing clubs throughout the Riviera offering fantastic opportunities for visitors.

Villefranche harbour is in a primary location on the French Riviera only 45 minutes from the enchanting town of Monaco and an hours sail to the renowned town of Cannes. The Trophee Pasqui Regatta is held annually at Villefranche bay this sees many of the most spectacular yachts harboured and led to the traditional boat club in Villefranche Sur Mer. The traditional boat club hold many prestigious events to promote sailing and yachting within the Riviera and display the development of the maritime discoveries.


Further down the coast is Cap d’Antibes known as the yachting capital, sailing around the peninsula allows you to view the area from a different perspective providing a tranquil atmosphere one can enjoy the beauty and culture of the Cap.  Juan Les Pins is just a stone’s throw away from Cap d’Antibes and shares much of the Mediterranean view with its neighbour. It is said that Juan Les Pins invented water-skiing at the fabulous Belle Rives Hotel. The bay of Juan Les Pins is extremely calm and for more rigorous sailing one would have to travel further down the coast, but for a relaxing experience Juan Les Pins is the place to sail.  There are many sailing schools throughout Capd’Antibes and Juan Les Pins of which are easily accessible from many of our Luxurious Villas.


The Cannes yacht club is the oldest association in existence in Cannes celebrating 151 years it is iconic amongst boating enthusiasts. The yachts and boats moored at Cannes harbour astonish passers-by due to the spectacular vessels lining the bay. Many events celebrating sailing are held in Cannes such as the Cannes boat show which presents some 500 of the finest boats to adoring potential clients.


During the first week of October each year the Voiles de StTropez, Sailing yacht regatta is held at the Port of St Tropez. This is a spectacular event with over 300 sailing yachts competing from across the world and attracting thousands of visitors to the shores of St Tropez.  The event is classed as one of the most important sailing events of the year with the main trophy being the La Grande Class which can only won by invitees of the race.

Happy 100th Birthday hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc

Opening its doors in 1914 hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc situated in Cap d’Antibes embarked on an iconic adventure that was sure to last decades. The timeless energy of this stunning hotel has played host to some of the world’s most affluent residence such as Charlie Chaplin, Leonardo DiCaprio and John Travolta to name a few. Many celebrities gather at the hotel to help raise money for charity at events such as the Met Gala.



The iconic hotel started life as the tea room of the Grand Hotel du Cap mainly inhabited by kings, businessmen and artists living in Cap d’Antibes. In 1922 the hotel played host to many American visitors who mainly stayed within the property during the winter months.

1933 was a key year for Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc with the enlargement of the pool and pavilion the yacht club was born. 


During 1955 Pablo Picasso a regular visitor to the hotel agreed to design a new menu for the exquisite restaurant, it is said that he only asked for paper, ink and a quiet table in return.


In 1970 Roberto Menghio redesigned The bar Eden-Roc, his inspiration being a boat which is exactly what inspires the Eden Roc Pavilion today.



Poette Arnaud was appointed head chef in 1992 creating gourmet cuisine in the renowned Hotel du Eden-Cap-Roc restaurant. Throughout the years the hotel has been home to award winning chefs such as Lilian Bonnefoi who won the title of Best Pastry Chef Riviera.



Over 5 years from 2007-2013 key areas of Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc were renovated so as to modernise the property whilst at the same time preserving its history.
