Sailing in the South of France

The Cote d’Azur is known for its iconic architecture, breathe taking views and glitz glamour although this Golden Coast is just as attractive off shore as it is on shore. Many of our properties offer mooring docks due to the demand of sailing facilities across the Riviera, with the perfect summer breeze travelling from the south east sailing conditions in the South of France are impeccable. The French Riviera hosts many Regatta Sailing events each year from yacht racing to festivals promoting the maritime developments.

Sailing along this stunning coast one can enjoy the scenic highlights presented by the French Riviera whilst relaxing and escaping the crowds. There are several sailing clubs throughout the Riviera offering fantastic opportunities for visitors.

Villefranche harbour is in a primary location on the French Riviera only 45 minutes from the enchanting town of Monaco and an hours sail to the renowned town of Cannes. The Trophee Pasqui Regatta is held annually at Villefranche bay this sees many of the most spectacular yachts harboured and led to the traditional boat club in Villefranche Sur Mer. The traditional boat club hold many prestigious events to promote sailing and yachting within the Riviera and display the development of the maritime discoveries.

Further down the coast is Cap d’Antibes known as the yachting capital, sailing around the peninsula allows you to view the area from a different perspective providing a tranquil atmosphere one can enjoy the beauty and culture of the Cap.  Juan Les Pins is just a stone’s throw away from Cap d’Antibes and shares much of the Mediterranean view with its neighbour. It is said that Juan Les Pins invented water-skiing at the fabulous Belle Rives Hotel. The bay of Juan Les Pins is extremely calm and for more rigorous sailing one would have to travel further down the coast, but for a relaxing experience Juan Les Pins is the place to sail.  There are many sailing schools throughout Capd’Antibes and Juan Les Pins of which are easily accessible from many of our Luxurious Villas.

The Cannes yacht club is the oldest association in existence in Cannes celebrating 151 years it is iconic amongst boating enthusiasts. The yachts and boats moored at Cannes harbour astonish passers-by due to the spectacular vessels lining the bay. Many events celebrating sailing are held in Cannes such as the Cannes boat show which presents some 500 of the finest boats to adoring potential clients.

During the first week of October each year the Voiles de StTropez, Sailing yacht regatta is held at the Port of St Tropez. This is a spectacular event with over 300 sailing yachts competing from across the world and attracting thousands of visitors to the shores of St Tropez.  The event is classed as one of the most important sailing events of the year with the main trophy being the La Grande Class which can only won by invitees of the race.

The amazing sail boats, yachts and beautiful harbours can be viewed from several of our luxurious waterfront or sea view properties located throughout the prestigious Cote d’Azur region. Our South of France expert consultants only work on the French Riviera so as not to dilute their product knowledge and can therefore ensure that they find you the property you desire.
